Engineers Fall to University of Illinois-Chicago
Feb. 12, 2007
CHICAGO, Ill. - Sophomore Boris Rasin posted MIT's highest all-around score of 45.500 in Saturday's dual meet with the University of Illinois-Chicago, but it wasn't enough to help spur the visiting Engineers to victory, as they fell to the Flames, 197.050-174.700. Tech dropped to 0-1 following the first dual meet of its season, while UIC moved to 1-1 with the victory. Sophomore Anthony May claimed the all-around title for the Flames by posting a 50.250, while freshman teammate Nikolai Korepanov picked up victories in the rings (9.45), parallel bars (9.050) and floor exercise (8.55). May also notched an 8.55 on the floor to share the plaudits. Rasin was the Cardinal and Gray's top performer on the floor exercise (8.250), pommel horse (7.450), rings (8.600) and parallel bars (8.100). His efforts earned him fourth-place in the all-around competition. The Brookline, Mass., native shared Tech's best score on the parallel bars with senior Brad Sutton, who also tallied an 8.100. Sutton and junior Joshua Coblenz each scored a 6.950 on the horizontal bar, while Coblenz was the best Engineer in the vault with a 7.250. Tech will host its first meet of the season on Saturday, Feb. 17, when it welcomes Temple University to the duPont Gymnasium for a 1:00 p.m. competition. The University of Illinois-Chicago will also return to action against Temple when it travels to Philadelphia, Pa., on Feb. 24 at 7:30 p.m. |
