Army Defeats MIT, 199.65-188.55

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - In its final tune-up before post-season competition, the MIT men's gymnastics team fell to the U.S. Military Academy, 199.65-188.55, on Saturday. The Engineers established a season-high team score in the loss to the Black Knights. Tech's best showing as a squad was on the vault with a total of 32.5. Tom Caldwell led the way with an 8.25, followed by Joshua Coblenz (8.15), Boris Rasin (8.1), Brad Sutton (8.0), Matthew Heine (8.0), and Zach Eisenstat (7.9). Rasin and Heine finished in a tie for second in the overall standings with a team-high score of 8.5 in the still rings. Brad Sutton paced MIT on the pommel horse (7.95), and parallel bars (8.3). Heine's mark of 8.2 in the high bar was good for third place while Tom Caldwell finish fifth in the vault with a total of 8.25. Rasin won the all-around with a score of 48, followed by Coblenz (45.2) and Caldwell (44.6). |
