CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - The MIT men's tennis team had a busy weekend, as it hosted Bowdoin College on Saturday and then traveled to Bates College the next day. The Engineers dropped a tough 4-3 match to Bowdoin before falling to Bates, 7-0.

Evan Tindell and Kevin Durand were double-winners for Tech on Saturday. Tindell, paired with Tom Dohlman, posted an 8-2 win in the No. 1 doubles position. Eric Beren and Krishna Pokala fell by the same score in the next spot. Durand and Mark Egan edged out Pat Keneally and Andrew Fried with an 8-6 decision. Tindell carried his winning ways over into singles play by winning 6-3, 6-4, in the top spot. Durand emerged with a thrilling 6-3, 7-6 (7-4) tie-breaker victory in the No. 6 slot.

MIT's match against Bates was much closer than the score reveals, as three matches went to tie-breakers. Tindell and Dohlman fell 9-8 (5) at No. 1 doubles. The teams of Beren/Pokala and Egan/Durand were both defeated by a score of 8-3. In singles action, Tindell took the first set, 6-4, before losing the next two, 7-5, 6-1.
