Jan. 31, 2008
BRISTOL, R.I. - They won the first and last rounds, but it was the ones in between that prevented the MIT wrestlers from prevailing over perennial powerhouse Bridgewater State College in Wednesday night's tri-match at Roger Williams University. Grant Kadokura, at 125 pounds, led off with an 8-4 decision win, and heavyweight standout Glenn Geesman closed with a 4-0 victory, but Tech had to forfeit two matches while losing a pair of action bouts, as Bridgewater State pulled away to a 24-6 triumph. The loss made it an extra long night for the Engineers, who also succumbed to the host Hawks, 45-9. Geesman won both of his matches to up his season ledger to 24-6. In addition to his win by decision, the junior standout also scored a win by fall in 1:04 against Roger Williams. Joe Silverman also picked up a win, as he and Kadokura both went 1-1. Silverman raised his season mark to 21-11, while Kadokura improved to 17-15. The Hawks won the event after defeating both MIT and Bridgewater State. MIT will host a tri-match against Western New England College and U.S. Coast Guard Academy on Friday, Feb. 15. |
