Novice Coach (Duke University '03)

Amelia Booth returns in the 2008-09 season for her second year as MIT's novice lightweight women's coach, following a debut in which her novice eight won a bronze medal at the Eastern Sprints. Before coming to MIT, Amelia spent three years coaching Brookline High School's novice girls, where her boats won state titles in 2004 and 2006.

Amelia earned a master's degree in Applied Anatomy and Physiology from Boston University while coaching BU's adult recreational program. Before moving to Boston, she received her bachelor's degree in Sociology from Duke University.

Originally from Buffalo, N.Y., Amelia learned to row at Nichols School and the West Side Rowing Club. She went on to compete as a four-year member of the varsity eight at Duke University. While at Duke, Amelia was named to the All-South region team three times and won the collegiate lightweight title at CRASH-B sprints. Amelia continues to row out of Riverside Boat Club
