HENLEY-ON-THAMES, ENGLAND - In its first foreign competition ever, the MIT openweight women's crew raced this afternoon in the prestigious Henley Women's Regatta on the Thames River in England. The young boat competed in the elite eight category, the most competitive event at the regatta. Despite a spirited performance, Tech was knocked out in the first round by a composite crew of very accomplished oarswomen rowing for the Barnes Bridge club. Read More

CHERRY HILL, N.J. - For the first time since becoming Division I in 2002 the MIT women's openweight crew fielded two varsity eights at the EAWRC Sprints on Sunday. Racing in a difficult crosswind, both the varsity eight and second varsity eight outperformed expectations and demonstrated the remarkable improvements that have taken place in only the second year of Holly Metcalf's tenure as head coach. CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - The women's openweight crew wrapped up its regular season on Saturday at home with the third annual Beanpot Regatta. Tech raced in moderate chop and a variable headwind against hometown rivals Radcliffe, Northeastern, Boston University, and Boston College, as well as guest Columbia. Despite falling short in the final sprint of the varsity race, the Engineers gave their best performance yet in the short history of the Beanpot. Read More
