MIT Women's Crew Among Nation's Elite As CRCA Announces 2007 Scholar-Athletes
May 23, 2007
CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - The Collegiate Rowing Coaches Association (CRCA) announced its scholar-athletes for the 2007 season and, as expected, MIT was one of the top recognized programs. The Engineers featured the largest contingent from any Ivy-plus school and secured the second highest number of accolades among schools from the Eastern Association of Women's Rowing Colleges (EAWRC). MIT showcased 10 athletes on the scholar-athlete team, including its entire varsity eight. The Engineers, who enjoyed a fantastic effort at the EAWRC's Women's Eastern Sprints, was one of only six schools in the nation to have at least 10 competitors recognized. The only other "sprints" school to cop double-digit honors was the University of Delaware, while UMass, Louisville, Kansas State and Clemson also had at least 10 honors. To qualify for the post-season academic honor, student-athletes must have completed at least their second year of eligibility and must have rowed in at least 75% of a team's spring slate. 2007 CRCA MIT Scholar-Athletes |
