Assistant Coach

Jim Hayes brings over 20 years of competitive and coaching experience to the MIT women's gymnastics program. He currently serves as the Engineers' uneven bars and vault coach while assisting with recruiting.

Prior to MIT, Hayes was the assistant coach with the Division I University of Rhode Island women's squad. During his tenure, he saw two athletes qualify for the NCAA Regional in the vault and uneven bars. Hayes' coaching background also includes instruction at the National Gymnastics Training Camp, United States Gymnastics Training Camp, and the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater Summer Camp.

Hayes' knowledge of the sport extends beyond the coaching realm as he was a regional sales representative for DGS 9.9, where he sold AAI equipment throughout the country. In addition, he designed state-of-the-art gymnastics facilities for several Division I programs.

A 1997 graduate of Springfield College, Hayes was the captain of the Pride during his senior campaign.
