MIT, Plymouth State Record 2-2 Tie
Jan. 19, 2008
CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - Rachel Longley registered a pair of assists while Catherine Harding contributed a goal and an assist in MIT's 2-2 tie with Plymouth State University in an ECAC East game on Friday night. The deadlock marked the first tie and only the third overtime game in the program's nine-year existence. The Panthers got on the board 7:13 into the contest when Elizabeth Murray converted an Ali Stevenson feed for a power-play strike. Almost five minutes later Plymouth State extended its advantage with another power-play goal, this time coming from Ashley Goodridge with Molly Perron and Kim Chandler earning the assists. MIT (0-9-1, 0-8-1) ended the shutout when Longley found Harding for her first goal of the season after 9:33 elapsed in the second period. Exactly 1:07 later, Longley and Harding collaborated in setting up Stephanie Brenman for the equalizer. The final frame was a defensive battle as Plymouth State fended off three power-play opportunities for the Engineers and was out-shot 13-3 in the period. MIT accounted for two out of the three shots in the extra session, but it could not tally the game-winner. In net, Rachel Bowens-Rubin collected 11 saves for the Engineers while Lindsay DeLorie finished with 55 for the Panthers. |
