Engineers' Season Ends at ECAC East Quarterfinal
March 2, 2008
CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - An overpowering performance by top-seeded Manhattanville College in the third period helped propel it to a 9-0 win over No. 8 MIT in an ECAC East Championship Tournament quarterfinal game on Saturday. The Engineers closed the season with an overall record of 1-18-2 as Rachel Bowens-Rubin collected 46 saves. The Valiants opened the scoring with a goal in the 18th minute of the first period and extended their margin with 38 seconds remaining before the intermission. The second stanza was a defensive battle as Bowens-Rubin kept MIT in the hunt by stopping all 21 shots she faced. Manhattanville ended its scoring drought and denied any hopes of a rally from the Engineers by tallying seven goals, including three power-play strikes, during the final frame. |
