ECAC Announces Women's Ice Hockey All-Academic Team

CAPE COD, Mass. - Commissioner of the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC), Rudy Keeling, is pleased to announce the 2007-08 ECAC Women's East All-Academic Team. MIT collected six honors, third to Manhattanville College which earned 10 awards. This marks the sixth year that the conference has named All-Academic teams for its five Division III Hockey Leagues. A total of 58 student-athletes representing 12 ECAC Women's East teams have earned this honor based on outstanding performance in the classroom.

To be named to the All-Academic Team, the student-athlete must have completed at least one academic year, have a cumulative GPA of at least 3.00 on a 4.00 scale, and have competed in at least one-half of her team's contests during the current season. Representing MIT were three-time honorees Rachel Longley and Raffaela Wakeman Stephanie Brenman and Sara John earned their second award while Kelcie Abraham and Cristina Stefanescu were first-time selections.

The ECAC Women's East League features teams from Castleton State College, College of the Holy Cross, Manhattanville College, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, New England College, Norwich University, Plymouth State University, Saint Anselm College, Saint Michael's College, Salve Regina University, University of Massachusetts at Boston, and University of Southern Maine.
